Burla Beach Cup 2008

Burla Beach Cup, a highlevel international beach tournament in the north of Italy with over 80 teams participating in 3 leagues, has become a yearly tradition for Diabolic Heaven. This little piece of heaven on earth has to be experienced by every frisbee-lover. Firsttimers are intrigued by the atmosphere, spirit and sportsmanship of a true frisbee community, and before the end of the tournament everybody is sold to the sport. After an exciting previous edition, expectations were high, maybe a little too high, because due to some weather, food and accommodation issues, and an overexpensive party, disappointment was inevitable for most of us. Luckily organisor, Paul Brenier (BE), noticed his baby wasn't doing to well without his full attention and we were garantueed to have a awsome edtion again next year.

Winners of the Burla Beach Cup were Bolognia, who crowned themselves King of the Viareggio Beaches after defeathing Sexpensive, with Yelle (Gentle) -our national proud- in their ranks, in a sublime final.

DH1 started in 2nd division, without the Sigmeister (who broke his hand the first day, after a bad pass of Maren ;-) ). This became a tough challenge, playing some of the strongest COED (Men and women playing in the same team) teams of europe. Against expectations DH1 did quiet well without their leader and finished 8th in 2nd league, and giving some of the best teams in their league a run for their money.

DH2 started out in 3rd division, to give some of the newbees a chance to enjoy frisbee aswell. Accompanied by some of the 1st team ladies and some experienced old fards, they played some really nice ultimate. With exception of Joris, who hit a nice lady -with a big boyfriend :-D- in the face (accidently ofcourse!), the spirit was wonderful in this team. I think now and then they took the time to enjoy the game!

And beside our two teams, we even had our own cheerleader-team: Karen and Martina. They supported our team passionately, and of course we want to thank them for it! Thank You!!!!
